The Epoch Times reports…
“A viral image of the Malaysia Airlines jet that went missing two weeks ago was combined with a scene in the 1960s show “Gilligan’s Island,” and it was combined with scenes from the show “Lost.”
“Maybe they now can get that coconut radio thingie to work?” reads a caption for the “Gilligan” image.
Dawn Wells, who played Mary Ann Summers on “Gilligan’s Island,” wrote on Facebook that she doesn’t support the image being spread.
“I need to address the picture that is on the internet of Gilligan, the Skipper, and the Professor, on the beach with a busted radio and the missing Malayasia plane behind them. While I understand the connection that we (castaways) disappeared without a trace and no one could find us, I know as well as you, our show was fictional and all in fun,” she wrote.
Adding further, she said that the “loss of flight 370 is not fiction nor funny. The picture circulating is very painful for those connected in any degree to the loss of flight 370.”
“I cannot control what is on the internet, it’s out there. But, I can, and do, send my deepest sympathy to all those who are suffering from the loss of loved ones from this event. Blessings and prayers to those having to go through such a personal and painful experience,” she said.
A local Nebraska TV station also used the “Lost” poster for a teaser of its coverage of the missing plane.
Both “Lost” and “Gilligan’s Island” involve people stranded on deserted islands.”
