The Daily Telegraph reports…
“A fire which tore through the Hillsong Church underground carpark in Baulkham Hills [on Sunday] night is being treated as suspicious.
The fire is being investigated as arson after several ignition sites were discovered in the underground storage area.
Up to 60 firefighters fought to contain the fire in the underground carpark at the church at about 7pm…
Kellyville and Baulkham Hills Fire and Rescue were first to respond and were joined by 13 other brigades.
The area was filled with cleaning material, building material and props and items for the church’s productions.
The giant 100m by 50m area was filled with smoke and firefighters had to use thermal imaging cameras to find the fires in the toxic smoke-filled carpark.
With only one entrance, ventilation became a problem and fans were used to dispel the acrid smoke.
Fire and Rescue crews stayed at the scene until 1.30am…”
