“Fire investigators say a blaze at a waterfront mansion on the Potomac River — where a pastor lived before being sentenced to prison — was intentionally set.
No one lives in the mansion, but it once belonged to Robert Freeman, the former pastor of Seed Faith International Church. Freeman was sentenced to 27 months in prison back in 2012 after he pleaded guilty to obstructing bankruptcy proceedings.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office says an incendiary device was used to start the fire in the three-car garage of the home at 5200 Rivers Edge Place in Indian Head, Maryland.
A boater spotted the fire just before 2 p.m. Sunday.
It took about three hours for firefighters to control the multiple alarm fire. One firefighter was transported to a nearby hospital because of a heat-related illness.
The home suffered significant damage.
Deputy State Fire Marshals said they are continuing their investigation.”
