  1. First of all, thank you for asking.

You’re the first person from the church in 15 years to take the time to ask.

There were many reasons for leaving, but mainly it was because of the incompetence from church leadership in running a (now-discredited) ‘ex-gay’ ministry called Dominion, which I attended at Riverview along with people like this guy http://www.samesame.com.au/reviews/3242/Theatre–Gay-Conversion-School-Dropout–Anthony-Menchetti.htm

Yes, the ministry was so bad, it spawned a stand-up comedy show.

The church’s culture at the time (I don’t know how much it’s changed under Hayden) was one of sociopathic amorality compounded by incompetence and corporate-modelled rigidity, masked by fake enthusiasm to maintain income.

So, a typical Charismatic church culture.

And while I acknowledge your affection for the TV crew .. I would suggest they have been a large part of the problem in creating the ‘don’t talk to me, I’m busy’ vibe of Riverview church.

  2. I would just like to point out that these guys are some of the nicest guys I know. And they’re part of an amazing team. The rv tv crew are the best.

Yes, I’m in the choir at Riverview so maybe I’m biased. I’ve been at Riverview since 2006 and having grown up in the Presbyterian Church coming here has been a breath of fresh air. Yes, the teaching is not as deep as Some would need, but in my journey it is where I need to be right now.

I am interested to know what it is that drove you away from Riverview, and I assure you I will not be offended by your reasons. Everyone has a church that is the right home for them
